Phelia Smith, 32, looks at the 10 inches of hair cut from her head Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at the Civic Center in Farmington, N.M., during the "Pure Bliss" event to raise money for a new cancer resource center in Farmington. Smith, who said she did not plan to cut her hair Monday, brought her son to the event because he wanted to shave his head in support of his friend's mother, Dr. Lynne Bliss, who is undergoing chemotherapy for Hodgkins Lymphoma. But when her friend, Dave Schritter, said he would donate $50 to the new cancer resource center if she would cut her hair, Smith agreed. The 10 inches were donated to Locks of Love.
